Happy Pentecost Sunday! 🔥🔥🔥
Jesus died. He rose again. 40 days later He ascended to heaven. 10 days after that the Holy Spirit came to dwell with the followers of Jesus.
Today - He is still with us!
Good Friday, Easter, The Ascension, Pentecost… Now.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” - John 14:26
The Holy Spirit is our Helper - our Comforter, our Protector, and our Guide. He is our conscience. He can guide us in our decisions and protect us from physical and spiritual danger. He can calm our fears and fill us with hope. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, as we repent, we are sanctified, saved, and kept in our covenants.
We can have fellowship with the Holy Spirit by receiving Him into our life. God is made up of three parts (The Trinity) - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is yours - all of Him - just for the asking!
We cannot dismiss any part of who God is. He is All in All - everything we need to live in the past, present, and the future.
He was and is and is to come!
So what is Pentecost?
The name comes from the Greek word "pentekoste" which means fiftieth as Pentecost Sunday takes place on the 50th day after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Easter). Christians mark this date as the beginning of the Christian Church as we know it.
The Day of Pentecost commemorates the day when the Spirit of God (aka the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost) came and was poured out on the disciples in Jerusalem - the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost represents more than just power - it marks the day fellowship began between all followers of Christ and the Holy Ghost. He birthed the Church of the living God in Acts chapter 2 - and He remains our constant companion even today!
