Rest is essential in a race of endurance. Knowing when to slow down, go all in or take a rest is key to endurance.
Now, I love to be on the move for God’s kingdom! Whether that is connecting with ladies I mentor, helping out a friend, or just chatting with the people working at a store it is in my DNA to be on the move. One thing I am working on is fully resting. ‘Cause like you, I get tired and weary even in doing good!
I am strengthened when I look to God’s Word in Isaiah 40:28-31 where we see that even when the youths grow weary and young men stumble, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles
They will run and now grow weary
They will walk and not be faint.
God has promised us that when we place our hope in the Lord, we will have all the energy we need to do what we were called to do!
So yes, rest is essential to endurance. In a culture that tells us to hustle, Jesus gives us rest.
Why not, take a look at your calender and schedule a time to do a restful activity. Maybe it is getting the extra hour of sleep you have been needing, connecting with a friend, or taking a relaxing walk on a nice day.
Whatever it looks like for you!
Isaiah 40:28-31
28Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
