WEIGHED DOWN

Oh, Friends, do you ever feel weighed down? I do! Many times daily - as I read the news or take a phone call or accept an incoming text, or even while I’m praying for the needs of a loved one.

I just learned that the Greek word for “weighed down” is bareo, which means “to burden, weigh down, depress.” I think the Devil must know Greek! He is multilingual, in fact, and he knows just how to speak our language - just how to get to us. Ugh! I wish he couldn’t understand me. Well, guess what? He doesn’t know me! He just thinks he does.

Hmmm…. Another thought. That’s why God has given me, through His Spirit, a prayer language that the Devil cannot understand. He doesn’t speak God’s language!

Next time the Devil tries to get at you or weigh you down, try speaking in another language - God’s language. Talk back to Him fully armed with the Word of God. It’ll put him in his place!

Luke 21:34-36 NASB

"But to be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap; for it will come upon all those who live on the face of the earth. But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."
